For 2025, the Year of the Snake, I’ve created a special set of free printable red pockets that you can easily make at home. These red envelopes, also known as hongbao (红包), are a beautiful way to gift money and spread good fortune during this festive season.  

What Are Red Pockets?  

Red pockets are an iconic part of Lunar New Year traditions across many Asian cultures. They symbolize prosperity, good luck, and blessings for the year ahead. Traditionally, they’re given to children, family members, or friends to share wishes of happiness and success.  

For the Year of the Snake, these red pocket designs feature elegant snake illustrations and modern calligraphy, blending traditional symbolism with a contemporary touch.  

How to Use These Free Red Pocket Printables

Creating your own red pockets is quick and simple with these printables. Here’s what you’ll need:  

• A printer (color recommended for the vibrant designs, I used laser)  
• High-quality paper (I used the 32lb text weight paper)
• Scissors  
• Double-sided tape

Steps to Assemble:

1. Download the printable red pocket design.  
2. Print the design on your chosen paper.  
3. Carefully cut out the outline using scissors.  

4. Fold along the indicated lines.  

5. Use glue or tape to seal the edges, leaving the top open for inserting money or notes.  

6. Write the recipient's name and seal with a wax seal for extra measure ;)
