Wax Seal Tips: How to Make Wax Seals in Bulk

Wax Seal Tips: How to Make Wax Seals in Bulk

In our studio, we have to make a lot of wax seals from time to time, and we mean A LOT. As we have done this many times, we learned some things along the way which we want to share with you so you don't have to figure it out yourself and save time!

Prepare Everything Ahead of Time

Seems like a no-brainer, but it is so essential that we have to mention it. By making sure you have everything, you can make your big batch of wax seals without interruptions. And besides having all your tools, make sure you have the right quantities of sealing wax and wax seal adhesives for your project as well. Not sure how much wax you need? Check the packaging of your glue gun sealing wax to estimate how many wax seals you can create with one stick. We have listed it on ours!

Want to double check you didn't miss anything? Check our new YouTube Video, Tools You Need for Wax Sealing.

Make Wax Seals with a Glue Gun

Although we love our Brass Wax Seal Stove and Spoon, we prefer using a Glue Gun if we need to make a lot of wax seals for our projects in the shortest time possible. Compared to the stove, the glue gun will heat your sealing wax faster and evenly, with less mess or wax drippings.

Use Double-Sided Adhesives

Instead of making the wax seal directly on top of your envelopes or surface of choice, consider creating all your wax seals at once and stick Double-Sided Adhesives to make a sticker out of your wax seal. Not only, will it save you time, but you will be able to put imperfect seals on the side without ruining your precious envelopes. Pick out your best wax seals, put the adhesive on the back, and put it on your surface of choice. It's that easy! And for those imperfect wax seals, consider cutting them up to use them as wax beads with a wax seal stove!

Consider a Cooling Pack to Cool Down Your Stamp

Especially when you are working with one wax seal stamp only, we recommend using a cooling pack to cool down your stamp after creating a few wax seals. Not only the glue gun, but your stamp as well can get hot, which prolongs the hardening time of your wax seal. By cooling your stamp down with a cooling pack, you keep the hardening time to a minimum. Just make sure you have a microfiber cloth ready to wipe off the condensation on your stamp, so it won't affect your wax seal.

Bonus: Use Multiple Wax Seal Stamps

The fastest way to make wax seals is definitely by getting a bunch of wax seal stamps - Just kidding! But all jokes aside, it does help speed up the process as you can cool some stamps, while you are using some to make the wax seals at the same time. We know it is not always possible to have multiple stamps of the same design, but if you are able to, and you are in a time crunch, this would be the way to go.

We hope you gained some tips and tricks, and we would like to know if this is new to you. Did we miss something? Just share your tips in the comments below! We're always on the lookout to improve our workflows if we can!
