It might only be August, but you're already making us excited for December. Since opening pre-orders for our Brush Calligraphy Advent Calendar last week, we've had such a wonderful response to both the return of Volume 1 and our brand new Volume 2.
Thank you to everyone who has already pre-ordered - you're a huge part of bringing this vision to life. Not sure if you've heard, but a new set of tariffs just hit Canada again and we're still sorting out how to navigate things on our end, but you don't need to worry on your part.

24 Little Creative Experiences
Inside the Advent Calendars, there are 24 individually designed booklets inside, each giving you something new to sit down and practice that day. For Volume 1, that means working through letters, words, and quotes, as you build your brush lettering skills. With walkthrough videos, you really can't go wrong!

A look into Volume 2
For Volume 2, we took that idea of daily creative experiences even further. Each of the 24 days has its own theme, with words to letter, simple illustrations to follow, and a little project that brings everything together. On my to-do list is to film all the walkthrough videos, but by the time November rolls along, we should be ready!

Last year's calendar meant so much to us ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
From the idea, to all the prototypes and testing to make this project even remotely possible, to personalizing each one to make sure that you receive it on time, it was truly quite the undertaking. Not only did we need to design all the booklets, we also had to figure out the production so that each piece was printed, assembled and packed in a way that made sense. Papers had to be perfect, booklets had to be in their right spot, the pens had to arrive on time to be assembled, then they have to be shipped to both our US/Canada locations to be personalized and then sent out.
I purchased one earlier and I enjoyed it so much I want to do it again! Excellent product that was just “write” for me. I found it to be just the right amount of tracing plus space to try on my own and I wasn't overwhelmed! Just the perfect amount of time to finish a little book of one letter! Really helped me to relax through the holidays AND learn each letter AND focus on a scripture each day! It's an excellent product! I hope more people give it a try! - Mary T.
First of all, it caught my attention because it has Bible verses to practice and even brush pens are provided, that's very convenient, I don't need to go places to search for the right tool! The calendar is beautifully made and it's very useful! I enjoyed the time very much in learning and practicing alongside the pre-recorded videos! A few things we learned from last year -
One question that came up was about the Bible verses included in Volume 1. Because this is an Advent Calendar and Scripture has always been part of who we are at Written Word, we intentionally included a short Bible verse as the final quote in the daily booklets. The calendar itself is still very much focused on learning brush calligraphy, but we know this is something some of you will love and others may prefer to do without.
Volume 2 does not include Bible verses. With 24 themes to explore this time around, we filled it with many words, quotes, illustrations and little projects to create not just for the holiday season, but throughout the year.
Last year, our Canadian inventory sold through much faster than we anticipated. Managing two separate inventories between the US and Canada can be tricky, especially when we can't simply move stock from one warehouse to the other.
So this year, we ordered more calendars for Canada in hopes that more of our Canadian community will be able to grab one without the scramble we had last year. 🤞
