Something I've Been Working On

Hi Friend!

Late last year, I had the incredible chance to chat with a good number of you to brainstorm and talk about possibilities for Written Word's next steps and we have been prayerfully discerning what that would look like, especially in the state we are in currently, as a Canadian product-based business. We're currently still trying to manage it as much as we could, as it's definitely been a challenge managing inventory in both places, with rising costs of materials and tariffs and logistics.

That's also why we have been working on refining certain parts of our business, like our online courses and digital offerings, and our Write Slowly CollectiveAt the same time, we've been asking God where is He leading us, and if there's something we can do from our Canadian base.

And as you may know, at the core of Written Word is really about writing His Word, and I've dreaming about a new way to rest in God's Word through writing. It's not yet a launch or an announcement, but it's an invitation.

The Working Name is The Scribe

The heart behind it is simple: A faith-based snail mail subscription. Each month, you'll receive a piece of mail from us - an envelope opened slowly, a verse written in calligraphy that you can keep or display, behind it, a story from one of our community members and a prayer that goes alongside it. It would also include traceable worksheets of additional Bible Verses that are in the same theme, and a link to a video of myself writing the verses and digital versions of the worksheets. And of course, if it's from Written Word.. it's going to be packaged beautifully, and you'll also receive a little stationery piece alongside it - like stickers, bookmarks, and other meaningful surprises.

It won't just be for calligraphers - it's meant for anyone who wants to rest in His Word, to hold it, trace it, sit with it, without the pressure to do it well.

A suggestion from one of our community members, Lauren, was that it would be a verse chosen by someone in the community, or from a mentor... which I thought was a really meaningful idea because stories really do enrich the meaning of the verses, and it is so encouraging always to hear how God has been working in each and every one of our stories.

If this idea resonated with you, even just a little - I'd love to hear from you. You don't need to respond right away, you can pray about it too. I've put together a short form where you can
  • Let me know if this is something you'd be interested in receiving someday, and/or
  • Share a favorite verse and a bit of why it's been a treasure to you.

About Last Weekend

On a different but equally joyful note, this past Friday we had the loveliest time at Vestige Story's pop-up at Holt Renfrew. It was such a blessing to be able to meet so many of you in person, I had a line of 10 people at some point, waiting to get their greetings calligraphed. For me, it was also therapeutic to write and add our Horse Wax Seal on the red bookmark couplets (the wax seals are on the way to us, by the way! We'll be restocking soon!). After a busy week of interviews and meetings, it really filled my cup in a way I didn't even realized I needed. If you stopped by, thank you for saying hello.

As always, thank you for being here - for reading, for writing, for slowing down with me. I'm so grateful to have such a thoughtful, encouraging community, truly.

With love,
Karla

P.S. This is very much still in the “listening and discerning” stage, so please don’t feel any pressure at all. I’m just grateful to get to dream out loud with you.
