Progress isn’t always linear

Progress isn’t always linear

I ran a half marathon this past weekend!

And I was able to set a new personal record, woohoo! I must say, that when people congratulated me, it felt kind of weird because honestly, I was a bit disappointed with my run. I felt that I could've done better - I had trained so much more, I had recovered from my injuries, I just didn't have any excuse for it not to be better, you know?

While I did get faster, it just felt like "not enough".

My good runner friend reminded me about how running progress often isn't linear, and on the race day as well there's just so many additional factors that could affect your performance. Clement reminded me too, that what he saw was a brave and disciplined woman, who trained in spite of being a busy mama and business owner. It made me think of the verse I had written then printed into a temporary tattoo to put on my arm, from Habakkuk 3:19.

"The Sovereign Lord is my strength;
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to tread on the heights."

When I was in university, I tore my ACL and had to go through intensive rehab - I remember how humbling it was to go from being a sprinter to learning how to walk again. And on the night before my final test to see if I can be cleared to run competitively again, God blessed this verse to me. And that's why I decided to put it on again for this race, and I kept thinking of it as I ran. Truly, sometimes, I just forget about how far I've come and how thankful I am to even be able to run and still do this.

And that's why I think the Scribe is so important

Because sometimes we don’t need more information.
We just need reminders.
Something tangible.
Something we can return to.
Something that meets us right where we are.
And God's Word is so alive and truly will work in mysterious ways.

Thank you so much for your support

Earlier this week, we launched The Scribe and we are so grateful to see many familiar names, and a good number of you also signed up for the annual subscription. We can't wait to get these out in the mail for you.

If The Scribe has been on your mind, this is your gentle reminder that it’s still open. We’ll be closing this first round on May 20.

Last Minute Gift for Mama

For all the mom's out there - Happy Mother's Day to you. I know it'll come a bit later, but I think The Scribe would be a lovely present for moms. I've told my kids, all I ask for mother's day is to get some sleep (haha) and a handwritten letter :) All you need to do is to put in your mom's shipping address when you put in your subscription.

Mini Adhesives

Earlier this week, we also added our mini adhesive stickers for our mini wax seals. These have been super popular for our bigger wax seals, and thought, we definitely need a mini version as well, especially now that our mini collection has grown so much. I love using adhesives for our wax seals as it removes the stress of making "perfect" wax seals right away, and they make such perfect stickers!

Would you help us share the word about the Scribe?

I know this may not be for everyone, but if it’s something that resonates with you, I’d love for you to share it with someone who might need it too.
Whether that’s through a conversation, a post, or even something bigger like a podcast or to speak about it in your church/community, I’m always open to finding ways to spread the Word together.

We also created an ambassador program last year, where you can earn a small commission when someone joins through your link. You can learn more about that here.

And as always, if you have any questions, just reply to this email. We’re just a message away.
In grace and love, Karla
